These are illustrations for a story I am developing entitled The Noir Rabbit. The story is the episodic adventures of detective Hopper solving cases along with his pretty female sidekick Rose Ross. Classic films like Casablanca, Rear Window, The Maltese Falcon, Bonnie and Clyde, and Who Framed Roger Rabbit were key inspirations. The noir genre naturally gives off a mysterious feel that I wanted to explore in a story like this. In order to capture the look and feel of a noir tale I used charcoal and white conte on toned canson paper. The slightly more complex or mature elements in the story are meant to contrast with my more whimsical approach to drawing that comes into play visually through the simplified environments and character designs. I hope to turn this into a fun little story for children. I will be editing and developing this idea furthur, so I will be updating this page as frequently as I can.
These are the sketches I made through out October 2021 for Inktober. Inktober is a hashtag that is traditionally used all throughout the month of October. People post daily sketches using random prompts posted at the beginning of the month.
